December 2012

Our book discussion for the month of December will be held a week earlier than usual, on December 17th.  Because of the shortened reading time, we chose a short book, the classic The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.  Copies are now available at the Eldridge library.

Join us for the discussion on the 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the First Amendment Room.

Check out the website for info on the upcoming theatrical release starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire.  http://thegreatgatsby.warnerbros.com/

October 2012 Discussion

For October, we have chosen the mystery Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann.  It is a detective story in which the detectives are sheep who are trying to determine who murdered their shepherd George.  Each sheep has a distinct personality that comes into play.  They are lead by the intelligent Miss Maple.  Sounds like fun right?

Join us on Monday October 22nd at 6:30 p.m. for our discussion.

August 2012

This month, we are reading a book by local author Connie Corcoran Wilson.  The book, The Color of Evil is the first in a series.  Here is a brief description of this horror book:
Tad McGreevy has a power that he has never revealed, not even to his life-long best friend, Stevie Scranton. When Tad looks at others, he sees colors. These auras tell Tad whether a person is good or evil. At night, Tad dreams about the evil-doers, reliving their crimes in horrifyingly vivid detail.
But Tad doesn't know if the evil acts he witnesses in his nightmares are happening now, are already over, or are going to occur in the future. He has no control over the horrifying visions. He has been told (by his parents) never to speak of his power. All Tad knows is that he wants to protect those he loves. And he wants the bad dreams to stop.

Discussion will take place on Monday August 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the First Amendment Room in Eldridge.  Copies of the book are available now.
